The chicks are growing and maturing so quickly! There are 4 of them and still holding - almost literally! We have read that it’s an old wives’ tale that the parents will reject babies that have been touched by humans. We’ve also read that chickadees can be tamed to a certain extent. So yesterday I started to pet their little heads and backs and talk to them gently. We’ll see how tame they get as I try to hold them a little.
Below is a picture of them this afternoon on day 11.

Thanks. I’m glad there are websites like yours. I recently obtained a baby chickadee (its bird house was attacked by house sparrows) . After the mom or dad checked out the nest they didn’t come back. I noticed the sparrows were about to move in and I thought I’d bury the babies. Turns out there was one that missed the attack. Because of your pictures I can estimate how old he (she) is. Today he looks between 9 and 11 days old. He’s flitting around but his flights are still on the decline. Thanks again.
