Newest Signs

More funny signs have come my way. Strangely enough, most of them are about either drinking or driving, or both.

Who could resist the bargain in the sign below?!

Is this next sign really necessary?

Here's a sign that wants to take every loophole into consideration.

Here's a sign that's similar, yet different.

This next sign sums things up pretty well.

The next two signs give great reasons to drive carefully.

Here's a sign that a reader in France sent me. I'll give a translation below the sign for those who don't read French.

The sign reads: "Getting down onto the tracks puts oneself in danger and delays the trains."

I guess if you don't care about yourself, you should at least be considerate of the train schedules!

Any time we saw our new grandson Ryan this past weekend, he was asleep. Monday evening, though, I was finally able to get a picture of him with his eyes open.

Mommy and baby are doing well, and Daddy is finally getting some sleep. 🙂

Our daughter Megan has done several fun blog posts about the preparations for Nora's wedding here and here. She's posted lots of pictures of all the various activities.

My favorite is the French sign! Great deadpan humor (whether they meant it to be or not).
    Sweet little grandson too! ^_^

Have you ever noticed that a lot of signs (especially signs for bathrooms) have braille on them as well? I’ve always wondered how a blind person would even know the sign was there – in order to use the braille! Maybe the signs are for those that just can’t see well – not those that are totally blind.

The baby looks so much like Mark. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on two wonderful occassions.

Rob adds: And who wants to touch signs in a bathroom?! Thanks for the congrats. Ryan definitely looks like his daddy. 🙂

My Google “Goggles” Android App interprets the French sign as: “Down on the way it is put in danger and delay trains”

I guess your job is not yet in danger from cellphones and computers.

Rob adds: That’s for sure. I find some horrendous translations on computers and other devices! One of the worst was when they fed different sayings in English into a computer for translation into French. One French rendering was “Invisible, on est fou.= Invisible, one is crazy. The original saying in English was “Out of sight, out of mind.”

I like how sign #3 doesn’t actually say one is not allowed to eat or drink anything…

The warning on the urinal may be there because:

    1. It is downstream of a backflow preventer and therefore it is technically non-potable (a plumber can explain backflow preventers to you if you are not familiar with them).

    2. They had a problem with people choosing the urinal over the fountain and causing a bottleneck in the men’s room.

    3. Maybe its a joke.
