@Michael - I'm happy to be able to say with all confidence that God is on the ultimate throne, no matter who sits on a little throne down here. How fast He wants to bring His plan to its culmination is up to Him, and fine with me.

As to the length of the blog posts ... this one may have seemed long, but it was mainly pictures, which go by fast. We'll just have to see how the posts go when we're blessed with more grandchildren some day. :-D

Bravo, Rob, on pointing out that our hope and salvation come from God and not from politicians. It appears that the candidate many of us don't want to have in office is probably going to win. However, that has not caused me great alarm or worry. I like to think it's because I have great hope that God is in control regardless of who is in power politically and that His will is always best. But, I probably have my hopes and confidence in other places. These election years are great times to reveal to us what some of our idols often are.

That being said, my state is not one of the "battleground" states so I am probably going to vote for a third party candidate since it will not affect the outcome. So, I'm going to try to vote for someone rather than against someone, at least when it comes to voting for president.

And, will your blog posts become twice as long if/when you have a second grandchild? :)

@Rhonda - I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures and that you learned a new expression. :-)

@Tammie - You are really observant! They do look like unisex type shoes that you would see worn often in steamy places in Asia.

@Kim Mathis - Glad you liked the pictures of Drew and the fam. I think your points may be valid concerning the election. Either choice is bleak, though one is dismally bleak! It will be interesting to see if the poll figures move any after the Powell endorsement. It's interesting that Jesse Jackson is not enthusiastic about Obama.

@Vikki - Thanks for your consistently insightful comments. I have often thought of our grandson Drew in connection with abortion. When we saw him and the other teeny-tiny babies in the NICU and thought that they were the size of many babies aborted, it made you ill. Those little exterminated lives are/were every bit as precious as those of the babies the medical personnel were working so hard to keep alive. I'm not a single-issue voter by any means, but in connection with someone as extreme as Obama on this, it's huge to me - hence the links I published. I have heard of professing believers who are planning to vote for Obama because they don't like or trust McCain for one reason or another. But as the articles I linked to put it, a vote for Obama is a vote for abortion. With recent elections this close, just think how they'd be if all those little future Democrats had not been aborted!

We'll find out if the Lord has decided that His cup of wrath is full when it comes to the evils of our current American society, whether it be intentional evil or apathetic tolerance and/or ignorance of evil.

Great pictures of Drew!! Hard to believe he had such a rough start just a short time ago.

I agree with your feelings on two major candidates. Sadly, I'll be voting against someone instead of for someone in this election. I lived as an adult in the Chicago area for over a quarter of a decade and Obama scares me. I've seen first hand how the political machinery works as Chicago is famous for it and I really fear for our country because of it. Be that as it may, ultimately it's God who will put the correct person in power. It may not be with who I agree with, or who is best for our country, but it will be who is best for God's purpose.

I read the first blog (the second one is blocked from my access from where I'm at right now). It really blows my mind when I read about this kind of reasoning. How can two babies, the exact same age, in the same hospital, with the only difference being one is in the womb and one isn't, be seen so differently. In one room the law demands that scores of doctors and nurses work around the clock to save his life and in the other room the law says doctors and nurses can kill him! If, for some reason child number 2 is born alive, they are now both identical – exact same age and both out of the womb - but because the law allowed them to kill this child initially, they aren’t required to do anything to save his life now that’s he’s born.

Sadly, the people who see nothing wrong with this deserve Obama and the harm he can potentially do to this country. We, as a society, will reap what we sow and I fear what the harvest will be. Without God, there is no morality, no right and wrong. Everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Sounds suspiciously familiar. Kinda like what God would say just before judging Israel.

I love the pictures of your grandson (and the rest of the family of course!), he is adoreable! In regard to the election and its outcome, I believe that Colin Powell just put the final nail in McCain's coffin. I think that prior to his announcement that he would be backing Obama, many many people really respected him and I have heard many say that they would vote for Powell if he had run for President. I think that a lot of people will think that if Colin Powell is backing Obama then he must be okay and they will support him also. I am sure this is true of the undecided voters. But, rest assured, it is all in God's hands and He already knows the outcome and I can take comfort in that.

That single pair of white ladies' slide shoes also gets around if you look closely at the pictures--that is, I assume they're ladies' - men were wearing them more than the women did!

Great pictures! Honestly, I've never heard the expression "no truck"! Just one more critical piece of information I've gleaned from reading your blog! BTW, I, too, voted my wishes on your poll. :)

Wow! I need to get caught up on commenting on comments here!

@Deb - Thanks for the comments on the pictures. It was a really nice day, even though it was obvious that Drew wasn't feeling good. He didn't cry much at all, but smiles were harder to come by than usual. In my poll, being the eternal optimist, I chose the answer I'd like it to be - given the choices - the slower train to socialism/communism.

@Jenni - Thanks for the link to the great picture!

@Dave - Bubba and Bubbette must indeed be a comical scene to behold! Thanks for the mental image you evoked!

@Carrie - For all their differences, I think scenes like today's pictures must be a common one in many Asian countries. Is hot Cambodia sounding good to you right now as winter is setting in up there in Palin country?

@Anna - You're most welcome. This post has been simmering in my brain since I received the pictures, but the posts Friday and our trip this weekend provided the skeleton of "no truck." I hope many others will check out the links - they and the links on them are really must reads!

The link Jenni provided came in a close second to the man carrying the hula-hoop looking things. Hilarious pictures. When I visit family in South Congaree, SC I will sometimes see a man named Bubba driving his tractor down the road. Behind him he is always pulling a wagon in which his wife is proudly sitting atop her throne made of PVC pipes. Quite comical.

As usual, Rob, I enjoyed seeing Drew's pictures with the pumpkins. So very cute. Pumpkin patch pics are some of my favorite pics of our kids at that age. The photos of all the "stuff" carried on bikes are unbelievable...and from the facial expressions of the bike riders it looks like the most natural thing in the world!
I took the poll and wish my answer could have been different from the one I selected. I'll be working the polls again this year--should be busy!
