Our family had such a nice Thanksgiving break this year that it was hard to tell it all good-bye and get back to reality. I thought I'd post a couple of bits of post-Thanksgiving humor to help ease the pain of withdrawal.

It was the several days after Thanksgiving, the trip went reasonably well and Joe was ready to go back. The airport on the other end had turned a tacky red and green, and loudspeakers blared annoying renditions of cherished Christmas carols. Being someone who took Christmas very seriously, and being slightly tired, Joe was not in a particularly good mood.
Going to check in his luggage, Joe saw mistletoe hanging near the check-in — not real mistletoe, but very cheap plastic with red paint and white paint on some of the rounder parts and green paint on some of the flatter and pointier parts. It could be taken for mistletoe only in a very Picasso sort of way.
With a considerable degree of irritation and nowhere else to vent it, Joe said to the attendant, "Where did you get such a ghastly mockery of mistletoe?"
"Sir, look more closely at where the mistletoe is."
"Ok, I see that it's above the luggage scale. Do you attendants step onto the scale for a kiss from us travelers?"
"That's not why it's there."
"Ok, I give up. Why is it there?"
"It's there so you can kiss your luggage goodbye."

Signs you ate too much at Thanksgiving dinner

Hundreds of volunteers have started to stack sandbags around you.
Doctor tells you your weight would be perfect for a man 17 feet tall.
You decide to take a little nap and wake up in mid-July.
You are responsible for a slight but measurable shift in the earth's axis.
Representatives from the Butterball Hall of Fame have called twice.
You set off three earthquake seismographs on your morning jog Friday.
Paramedics bring in the Jaws of Life to pry you out of the La-Z-Boy.
You're sweatin' gravy!

One of the nicest parts of our Thanksgiving break was enjoying lots of family time together. With Megan's nice camera and Mark's tripod, we were able to take a picture of our whole family together the other evening.

Megan's pregnancy is going well. In a recent blog post she posted several pictures of the baby from her 3D ultrasound last week. It's so neat to see the details on our granddaughter's little face!
How was your Thanksgiving? Are you experiencing any post-Thanksgiving let down?

My husband and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, starting with our Wednesday night at church. My sister came from Michigan and brought a friend. Our son came who lives in the area close to us. My sis and I didn’t do the Black Friday thing, but did shop at a couple of stores. She and her friend drove home on Saturday and our house was so very quiet. I know now how Mom felt after my family would leave her home. She’d always say, “Oh, the house is so quiet now.” There was a post-Thanksgiving let-down, but now I cherish all the sweet memories of the two days together.

Is your picture of Pont du Gard? If so, I have only seen it from the other side. If not, I still have never seen it from this side.
By the way, I can’t really appreciate your post-Thanksgiving humor. I don’t think people should make jokes at other people’s EXPANSE.

Ha ha! I chanced on your blog when I googled ‘bad hair days.’ What a hilarious post! You’ve got a good one here, too. What a fun site! I’ll have to come back soon.

All 4 of our kids, their spouses, 7 grandkids and my sister and her 2 kids – all from Wisconsin – were here for a week over Thanksgiving. We had a really great time visiting.
Sleeping was interesting. We put to use both of our 2 guest rooms and the bonus room. We also set up our pop-up camper in the driveway and used that for another guest room. The younger kids slept on the floor in their parent’s room and the older ones opted for the couches.
Our kids put together a schedule where each family was responsible for one day of cooking (which meant they also bought the food for that day, thus spreading the cost around) and another day for cleaning. Everyone chipped in for the Thanksgiving meal and everyone helped cook and clean afterward. It really worked out great. A lot less pressure on us plus everyone had a few days to just enjoy each other.
We really hated to see everyone leave and were amazed at how quiet the house suddenly became when they did.
Since everyone was here for Thanksgiving, we also celebrated our family’s Christmas with a gift exchange. So Christmastime will be a quiet one with just the 2 of us this year.
