Pumpkin Pi

Do you like pumpkin pie? It's something I look forward to every year at this time ... and we have not had one yet. (Hint, hint....) 🙂 In our house we have found that we like pumpkin pie made with winter squash about as well as we do pie made with real pumpkin. Pumpkins have come to my mind often lately not only because they are almost everywhere you look, but also for several other reasons, the image below from my recent blog post on being mathematically challenged.

I found another interesting equation along the same line. Here's the picture:

I did a Google search on "pumpkin pi" and found all sorts of fun images on the same theme. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Another reason pumpkins have come to mind is that our little pumpkin Drew was here with our daughter Megan and son-in-law Jim this past week. On an outing to one of our favorite places Lyda Farms, Drew loved running around among the pumpkins.

Grandma and I are excited for our son Mark and daughter-in-law Katie that they are expecting their first child in April — another little pumpkin for us to love. 🙂

Our daughter Nora and her boyfriend Topher did some fancy pumpkin carving with friends recently. Here are several pictures of their creations.

I think they did a terrific job!

My wife has some family pictures of us all from the past several days in her latest blog post.

I hope you are having a great week. What are your thoughts on pumpkin pie and winter squash?

I like the pumpkin with the pi cut out. Cute!

Sounds like you will have a busy, busy April with a new grandbaby, a wedding, plus all that the end of the school year brings. I’m sure you’ll have lots of wonderful memories by month’s end though.

Rob adds: I liked that one too, Ellen. Yes, April could be a whirlwind, but such exciting times in our family’s lives.

My wife loves most anything pumpkin this time of year. Pumpkin pound cake, pumpkin spiced drinks, and (probably her favorite) the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard at Diary Queen.

Rob adds: They all sound like winners to me, Michael! I also like pumpkin pie spice lattes. 🙂

We need a Dairy Queen up here in Fairbanks! (like I need another hole in my head) I love this post! I needed a smile today, thanks for providing it.

Rob adds: What?! You think ice cream would not be a big seller up there in Alaska?! Glad you enjoyed the post, Carrie.

Actually, we have a Cold Stone Creamery that appears to do a bustling business all year. Our family is in their birthday club (free ice cream on your birthday — go to their website) and when we go for my birthday in January, we’re not alone!

Rob adds: That would work for me. I actually got my birthday card from Cold Stone last month, but I didn’t avail myself of it. I’m trying to be careful about what I ingest.
