After the special blog post on Monday, I'm back to my normal once-a-week Wednesday post.
On our mini-vacation last week, Becka and I saw a funny sign outside the window as we ate ice cream. The sign was at a crosswalk on a street where there was next to no traffic.

Does that sign seem to have way too much detail?
This next one came from a reader who found it on the edge of an army training area on the South Island of New Zealand.

It seems as if it would be just as easy for this homeowner to password protect his WiFi.

I'm not sure that this is a place of business I'd like to frequent.

Here are several other interesting business places.

Here are some great road signs. I wonder if this first one is near the home of either the Hatfields or the McCoys.

Whenever I see an End Road Work sign, I say aloud, "Amen!" I could really say "Amen!" to a road work zone like this one.

My advice on turning right at this next sign would be not to go too far down that road!

This sign might not be so funny in some parts of the world right now.

I'm not sure which of these next two signs is more confusing.

This next sign would be hard to obey.

And I love this next sign!

I'll end this post with an update from the Loach Bird Sanctuary. We have a bird feeder by our kitchen window and enjoy seeing all the different kinds of birds that come for seeds. Week before last we had a kind of bird we'd never had before — a young grosbeak.

We have not seen the male bluebird for several days now. Last evening I was sad to learn from the neighbors behind us that they had seen the male bird dead in their side yard, apparently caught by a cat, or who knows, maybe even by a hawk. The female bluebird has had to work overtime to feed the babies since both parents normally share the load. Yesterday morning the three baby bluebirds were fine, but last evening one had died during the day. Here's the picture I took in the morning.

Where do you get these photos? I read this post and another with signs. Great stuff; some of the best signs I’ve read online … and so many. I think Parolise Chiropractic takes the cake (I work with chiropractors so it was really funny). Imagine how they answer the phone – I imagine first-time callers are taken aback. I think perhaps a different name would be a good idea – but then they probably are well known and works in their favor.

It is amazing to me, the human capacity for inane/ridiculous signs. My favorite is the ocean view just kidding sign. Oh dear.

Thanks for a great laugh!
I started a sign company – a franchise – and grew it for 12 years – then sold it. It’s amazing how many people want signs that just don’t make any good sense.
After 2 years of not being “in” the sign biz, I’m starting to not look at every sign I see – much to the joy of my wife.

@Jon – People send me most of the sign pictures I post. After I did this post, one of my readers sent me several pictures she had taken – funny stuff.
@Ray – Thanks, Ray. I’m sure I have some readers who will go wild with the link you posted.

“Sign, sign, everywhere a sign….”
I used to work for the Department of Public Works for a city when I was in college. There was a sign department. We mostly made temporary signs, but they were actually made with real metal and stickers etc…This guy I worked with would spell a word wrong at least twice a month. It got to the point where we would just let him put it up in town even if we knew it was wrong beforehand. My favorite was “Road Contraction will Be from July 1 to June 31st. Please Use This Route” It doesn’t write funny, but I love a good sign to this day….
